Millwall have gone under the radar this season because of some of the performances of others including fellow promotion competitors Burnley and Sheffield United.

Currently sitting in sixth place though, Gary Rowett's side deserve a huge amount of credit with the board's investment in the summer already seeming to pay dividends.

Following the departure of Jed Wallace - it would have been a big ask of the Lions for them to secure another top-half finish but they seem to be thriving without him - a promising sign for those hoping to see the club in the Premier League.

Some would argue that there's more that can be done in January to strengthen Rowett's side further, with the goalkeeping area potentially one that needs to be taken a look at with Connal Trueman's contract expiring next month.

We're focusing on potential departures in this piece as we list one player that could potentially be sold, one that may be loaned out and one first-teamer the club's hierarchy should definitely be looking to keep.

Keep: Zian Flemming

Scoring eight goals in 17 league appearances this season, the Lions' most notable summer signing has been a revelation since his arrival in the English capital during the previous window.

He was one player that would have been considered a potential replacement for Wallace with the Dutchman's ability to be an asset in the final third clearly on display before his summer switch.

Scoring 12 times in the Dutch top division for former side Fortuna Sittard last term, he's currently on course to beat that tally quite comfortably this season and he's certainly one player the Lions need to keep hold of if they want to keep pushing for promotion.

His hat-trick against Preston North End shortly before the international break just goes to show how important he is - and it would show a lack of ambition to cash in on him now unless they receive a huge fee for his services.

Sell: Isaac Olaofe

Recording just three league appearances this season, this isn't an ideal total for a player that would have been desperate to make his mark in the second tier during the 2022/23 campaign.

Scoring eight goals in 27 League Two appearances for Sutton United last term, he adapted to EFL football seamlessly following his spell with the same club in the National League during 2020/21.

Although he could potentially be loaned out, he probably hasn't got enough experience at a higher level to be an asset for the Lions in the future now considering he's only 23.

If he was only 19 or 20, it would be a different story but Olaofe needs to settle down somewhere where he will be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

That's why it wouldn't be a surprise to see him push for a move when the winter window opens.

Loan: Mason Bennett

Olaofe could be the one that's loaned out with Bennett possibly being sold - but the latter has shown himself to be an asset at this level and he may benefit from a loan spell away from The Den to discover his mojo.

His season may have been heavily disrupted by an injury - but his game time has been limited even when available and this is why he may benefit from some time away from the Lions, though it remains to be seen whether any offers will pop up for him.

Also playing for Derby County at a time when they were chasing Premier League football, he's certainly a well-known name and that's why a team could potentially be willing to take him off Millwall's hands temporarily.

And with the experience he has, only a short-term loan may be needed to get him back into a rhythm again, enabling him to be a real asset for Rowett's men once more.
