It’s been a fluid start to the summer for Nottingham Forest, who under Aitor Karanka are looking like a squad more than capable of challenging for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship next season.

After last season’s disappointing mid-table finish, Karanka has gone about reshaping his playing squad, with some real quality now on the display at the City Ground.

Karanka hasn’t focused fully on adding players to his squad, with others departing the City Ground after difficult spells with the club.

Whilst the coming weeks will see Karanka look to strengthen further, fringe players are still facing a potential departure, as the Spaniard looks to move those surplus to requirement on.

With that in mind, we take a look at some of the players Karanka still has available to him, identifying THREE who find their future at the City Ground hanging in the balance at this stage of the summer…

Clough is becoming a forgotten man at the City Ground, with the forward falling behind some exciting attacking additions.

He spent time last season on-loan with Bolton, and it remains to be seen if Karanka wants to involve him next season.

On his day, Clough can be really dangerous, but that day has rarely come at the City Ground.

Bridcutt has only been with Forest 12 months, with the midfielder having plenty of experience, which could be invaluable.

However, Karanka has looked to strengthen his central midfield options and Bridcutt’s playing time looks like it could be limited.

Surely the ex-Leeds captain won’t want to find himself on the fringe at another club.

Murphy was really poor last season for Forest, but Karanka could be considering keeping him on board.

If Karanka can get the Irishman motivated, he could be a really big asset.

He’s scored goals in the past, but didn’t show anywhere near his best last season.
