As we head into the final few games of the 2016/17 campaign, many clubs and teams will be considering the future of their managers, but more specifically their players.

There is no way to avoid mentioning Leeds United when we look at the promotion race for the top-flight and after their thirteen year absence, they will definitely be looking forward to a party come this time in two months.

Although, the manager Garry Monk has a tough task ahead as he will have to; one, get his Leeds to Wembley in the play-off final, and two; make up a retained list for anyone who does not meet the criteria.

The Whites have a number of fringe players, and it is up to the boss to decide whether to keep or get rid of them.

Elland Road will be a hectic place the very moment this season finishes.

Here are THREE players Monk needs to make a big decision on....

Marcus Antonsson

The 25 year-old has always been second best at Leeds United behind star striker Chris Wood, so his future is always in doubt with very little opportunity to prove his worth.

Marcus Antonsson has been limited to just 16 appearances in the Championship this year, with most of them coming off the substitutes bench.

His contract doesn't expire until 2019 so he will have to be sold and Garry Monk will be pondering over whether the Swedish man is up to standard for top-flight football, perhaps selling him may be more preferable and axing him is the better of the two options.

Ross Turnbull

Ross Turnbull is one of the forgotten men at Elland Road since his arrival in the summer of 2015, which does mean his contract expires this coming June.

The former Chelsea goalkeeper hasn't played a single match for Leeds this season and is third down in the pecking order in his position, meaning a move in the next couple of months is very likely.

Turnbull has to be axed for the good of his career and the fact that Monk will be looking to add quality to his potential Premier League squad rather than numbers, and every bit of wages has to be taken into consideration.

Gaetano Berardi

The 28-year-old is one of the fan favourites in Yorkshire for Leeds United supporters, despite perhaps finding his recent spot in the match-day squad hard to come by.

Gaetano Berardi has made nineteen appearances under Monk this campaign and the full-back has probably adapted to being second best under the manager, with Luke Ayling and Charlie Taylor dominating either side of the defence throughout the season.

The Swiss has to be kept, however, because of his versatility on both sides of the pitch, Garry Monk may want to keep him ahead of next year; no matter whether the team are in the top-flight or Championship.
