Having been linked with a move to Reading last week following reports of a big money switch by Jaap Stam to bring the player to the club, it appears forward Nelson Oliveira will remain with Norwich next season after manager Daniel Farke played down speculation regarding any potential transfer.

The Portuguese striker only joined the Canaries last summer from boyhood club Benfica, and scored 11 league goals in his debut season at Carrow Road.

Next year will be Oliveira’s third season of Championship football following a loan spell with Nottingham Forest for the 2015/16 campaign, and after settling in East Anglia, the 25 year old has the ability to be prolific.

The starting striker spot is up for grabs, and Oliveira has what it takes to seize the role and fire the Canaries back to the Premier League after a disappointing spell last semester saw the side finish outside the top six.

Farke embarks on his first season in English football with the intention of taking his new side back to the top flight after what will be a two year absence, and goals will need to be found in abundance if the club are to best their rivals in what is set to be one of the most competitive second tier seasons to date.

Oliveira is full of goals, and in the right system could easily reach the marker set by top scorer Chris Wood, who smashed 27 league goals last time out.

If Farke can hold onto Oliveira and get him firing, then the Portuguese forward could be at the forefront of Norwich’s Premier League march.
