Sheffield Wednesday tonight announced the appointment of Jos Luhukay as their new manager, replacing Carlos Carvalhal who departed for Swansea over the Christmas period.

The Owls announced the news on their official twitter page and website, and it will no doubt be welcome news to the Owls fans who had been waiting for the club to make a quick appointment ahead of next week's Sheffield derby with Sheffield United.

The former Augsberg and Koln manager will be hoping to bring some of his success to the club which he enjoyed over in Germany, where he saw success with numerous promtions and fights against relegation to and from the Bundesliga.

Following the late night announcement, many Owls fans were keen to take to Twitter and give their thoughts on the appointment, and it's safe to say there's been a mixed reaction to the appointment of Luhukay.
