Tottenham Hotspur recently announced that they had parted company with Mauricio Pochettino, which certainly came as a surprise to the club's supporters.

Spurs are currently sat 14th in the Premier League, and wasted no time in appointing his placement, as former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was appointed just a day later on Wednesday.

A number of players have issued praise for Pochettino as he departs the club, and one Spurs loanee has recently taken to social media following the announcement.

Sterling is currently out on loan with League One side Doncaster Rovers, and will be hoping that he can play his part in their promotion push this term.

Doncaster are currently sat 12th in the third tier table, and will fancy their chances of forcing their way into the automatic promotion places heading into the festive period, which could make or break their season.

Sterling hasn't made much of an impact for Darren Moore's side this season though, with the on-loan forward having a number of injury problems since arrive at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The 21-year-old has been restricted to just four first team appearances in total this term, and will be hoping he can make up for lost time at the earliest of opportunities.

Sterling and his Doncaster team-mates are next in action this weekend, when they take on high-flying Wycombe Wanderers in what is likely to be one of their toughest tests of the season to date.

The Verdict:

He's clearly had a big impact on Sterling's career.

Sterling's career hasn't panned out the way he would have originally hoped for, but if he can impress out on loan with Doncaster this season, then he could be worth a punt for Jose Mourinho's side in the future.

But Mourinho isn't known for giving younger players a chance in the first team, so Sterling will need to prove himself to be cut out for senior football as soon as possible.
