Bristol City attacker Kasey Palmer has reacted to Benik Afobe's latest message as the Robins' striker edges closer to a return from a serious knee injury.

The on loan Stoke City forward has been missing since the sixth day of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury which was expected to keep him out until the end of the season.

However, he returned to training on Monday, sharing a video message with the fans on social media in which he expressed his happiness to be back and that he would see the fans soon.

After scoring three times in those six games, he quickly became a fan favourite at Ashton Gate alongside Kasey Palmer.

The fellow summer-signing, joining from Chelsea on a permanent deal, shared his thoughts on his personal Instagram story.

He shared the clip from the club's account and added the caption: "Love to see it".

As things stand Bristol City face a battle to finish the campaign in the play-off places, currently sat three points adrift with a host of sides all vying for a spot.

At the moment, Fulham, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Preston all sit inside the top-six but a lot can change in that time.

Following their 3-0 defeat to West Brom on Saturday, The Robins will be looking to close the gap tonight with a win against Huddersfield Town.

The verdict

It is easy to see why Bristol City fans are so excited to see Afobe so close to a return to fitness.

There will still be a fair bit of time to go but I don't think many will have expected to see him here already.

To see Palmer and him linking up on the field would no doubt make many a fan happy although they both face a battle to get to that stage.
