Kasey Palmer has shared an update alongside returning Bristol City striker Benik Afobe as the latter continues his impressive return from an ACL injury.

The Stoke City loanee suffered the blow just six games into the season, something which was expected to end his campaign before it had really begun, but he has recently returned to training and appears to be closing in on match fitness too.

Taking to Instagram, Palmer shared a photograph of the duo posing in training, alongside the caption: "The smiles say it all 😄 always good vibes with my bro @benikafobe, positive energy always 🤘🏾❤".

QUIZ: Can you identify these 15 Bristol City players purely based on their date of birth and birthplace?

During those opening six matches of the 2019/20 season Afobe found the back of the net three times and seemed to be the perfect solution to their striking problems, after failing to land Eddie Nketiah in the summer.

But he has not played a match since and has been working on his comeback, with Andreas Weimann, Famara Diedhiou and more recently Nahki Wells taking on striking responsibilities.

Palmer is facing issues of his own within the squad, having seemingly been dropped from Lee Johnson's immediate plans, playing just over 30 minutes of action in their last 13 league matches, failing to make the matchday squad for six of those.

The verdict

This is an image that fans are sure to love.

Both Palmer and Afobe have become firm fan favourites at Ashton Gate over their relatively short spells in the West, and they will be eager to see both on the pitch before the end of the season.

Johnson's decision to leave Palmer out of the action for so long has been truly baffling to many, seeing as he is one of few who possess creative qualities in the Bristol City squad.
