Ex-Charlton Athletic forward Karlan Grant has reacted to a video of Addicks stopper Dillon Phillips.

Grant, 22, began his career at The Valley back in the 2014/15 after graduating from the club's youth academy.

He gradually worked his way into the first-team via loan-spells at Cambridge United and Crawley Town, before having a breakthrough season in League One last year.

He'd netted 14 goals in the opening 28 games of the season before he was snapped up by then Premier League outfit Huddersfield Town. He then scored four goals in the second-half of his Premier League debut semester, but couldn't prevent his side from being relegated to the Championship.

But he's continued his impressive form this season, with 16 goals for Danny Cowley's side. Earlier today he reacted to a highlight video of Charlton's Dillon Phillips:

Phillips is also a graduate of the Charlton academy, and someone Grant knows well. The pair were mainstays in Lee Bowyer's team last year and Phillips remains so - he's played every single minute of the Championship campaign so far.

He's earned high-praise from those who've watched him - for a relatively young and inexperienced keeper, Phillips commands his box as well as anyone in the league, and has on more than one occasion kept his side in games this season.

The verdict

Charlton have produced some fine academy players of late and they continue to do so. Grant is probably the biggest name to have been produced and sold on by Charlton in recent times, but Phillips is equally as impressive in his own right.

Bowyer probably couldn't imagine a side without Phillips in it, and he'll be integral in ensuring his side's safety this season.
