Nottingham Forest will not be viewing the World Cup as a market place for potential new transfer signings this summer, as Aitor Karanka’s side claim they will want to get their business done before the tournament.

According to the Nottingham Post, Forest hope to be able to watch some of the action unfold in Russia on television, but only once restructuring their squad prior to the competition.

The Tricky Trees ended this campaign in 17th place, and will certainly be looking to add potential new additions to their squad this summer.

Karanka and his team wish to finish most of their signings so they can enjoy the prestigious event, stating: “Perhaps there will be something that comes up and surprises us. But the World Cup starts in mid-June and I hope that we will have most of our business done by that point.”

The Verdict

Nottingham Forest certainly do need to rejuvenate their squad this summer. Another disappointing season at the City Ground will lead to real unrest with the fans, so getting their business done early can only be a good thing.

While missing out on potential unknowns at the World Cup could hinder them, the transfer market remains open if they want to continue their trading.
