According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Dean Marney has met Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka over a potential move in the summer window.

The Reds are expected by many to be busy in the summer window and it looks as though the starting gun has been fired ahead of their transfer dealings.

Marney is a free agent in the summer with his contract up at Burnley and it looks as though he is going to have to drop down a division if he wants to get more minutes.

With that said, then, it looks as though he's met Karanka and had a chat with what his plans might be at the City Ground for 2018/19.

Certainly, the Reds are eager to get themselves back into play-off contention and Marney will look to show that he is ready for the fight should he sign for the Reds.

The Verdict

Marney is a good pro with experience but he is nearing the end of his career and Forest fans might be a little cautious about that.

With Jack Colback potentially off at the end of his loan the club will need more central players in midfield but it remains to be seen if Marney is enough or if more arrive.
