As quoted by the Nottingham Post, Aitor Karanka has suggested that he could make a whole host of changes for their League Cup game with Bury this week.

The Reds have been decent so far this season with them unbeaten and playing some nice football.

Karanka has a good squad at his disposal, too, and with the fixtures set to start piling up in the coming weeks, using it to the full has to be on his mind.

Indeed, it appears that that is exactly the case with him saying:

"I think there will be lots of changes, yes. The players who played against Reading – many of them have played three games in a row and we are in August.

"It is not a question of letting them rest, it is more about letting the other players show me that they are keen to play."

The Verdict

Karanka is a good manager and knows how important it is to rotate and keep legs fresh.

With the amount of players that came in, combined with the good players he kept at the club, it would be silly to not give some a chance to shine in this one.

Indeed, the likes of Sam Byram and Michael Hefele need to get up to speed now, too, and so this game represents a fine chance for Karanka to see what else he has available to him.

Let's see if the players that get given the opportunity grasp it with both hands tomorrow night against the League Two side.
