Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka has said he had 'no doubt' that Lewis Grabban would be the one to step up and take the second penalty in Forest's 2-2 draw with Blackburn today.

The big money summer signing had missed his first attempt from the spot in the first half - his second miss of the season - but strode up to confidently convert a second spot kick opportunity in the second half.

And his manager Aitor Karanka was in little doubt about Grabban taking the second kick, such is his belief in his quality.

“I had no doubt. When you sign a player, you know his ability, his quality and his character,” said Karanka. “He is a player who has scored almost 20 goals every year because he is a strong character." Karanka said to the Nottingham Post following the game.

“Today, he has shown his character and when a player misses a penalty, when the following penalty comes, you can often see him 20 metres away from the bal. But when we had the second penalty, he took the ball and he was confident. He scored the penalty and he scored another goal, so I am very pleased for him.” added the Spaniard.

Forest sit 11th in the Championship table after their inconsistent start to the season has seen their high pre-season expectations fail to come to fruition.

A host of summer signings were brought in following new backing and links with agents, but the City Ground is yet to see the best of a lot of those signings.

However, Grabban does appear to be getting his feet under the table for the Reds, and his goals will be a massive boost for the Midlanders as they continue to hunt for a top six spot.
