Aitor Karanka has delivered an update concerning the futures of Ben Brereton, Apostolos Vellios and Daryl Murphy.

The men from the City Ground have enjoyed a good run of form under the Spaniard in recent weeks with it becoming increasingly clear that his players and squad have gelled now.

However, there's a strong feeling that he'll go again in the transfer market with the Nottingham Post suggesting that a new striker is on his shopping list in the summer.

With that said, then, questions will obviously be asked about the three main strikers at the club right now but Karanka says the trio have until the rest of the season to help make his mind up as to what he should do and that they will all get their chance.

In quotes taken, again by the Nottingham Post, he said:

“I have to choose. It was Ben and Daryl at Sheffield. Maybe in the future it will be Ben and Apostolos or Apostolos and (Lee) Tomlin and Ben and Daryl will be on the bench."

The Verdict

Clearly, all three have the chance to ensure they remain at the club whilst Lee Tomlin could also be in the equation if Forest feel that they can get a permanent deal done.

You'd think, though, that Daryl Murphy would stay put at the club with Ben Brereton potentially out on loan depending on Tomlin's residence next season.

Apostolos Vellios, meanwhile, might not have as much a chance.
