Gboly Ariyibi will be going out on loan again next season.

The 23-year-old winger went on two loan spells this season to League One sides Milton Keynes Dons and Northampton who coincidentally both ended up getting relegated. His spell with the Dons was a lot more successful because he managed to score seven goals across all competitions while he was unable to get on the scoresheet for the Cobblers.

He will have been hoping that this was enough to convince Karanka to give him his first chance in the first-team next season.

However, the Spaniard has confirmed that this won't be the case as quoted by the Nottingham Post:

"Gboly is a different situation because he has been out on loan and did not always play. The best thing for him might be to go out on loan again, to somewhere where he will play games."

The Verdict

Ariyibi might be annoyed that other talented prospects will be getting chances in the first-team, but there is little he can do apart from proving Karanka wrong by playing well out on loan.

His spell with Northampton is probably what cost him because he was unable to build on his time with MK Dons, and he needs to prove that he is too good for that level if he wants a chance in the Championship. Karanka is a hard manager to please, but it's not impossible so this next loan spell is key for him and his future at Forest.
