While the drama of Kamil Grosicki's Nottingham Forest summer transfer saga may have come to an end it seems the speculation around the Pole's future has not.

Following the collapse of the winger's move to The City Ground, reports have recently emerged to suggest that Middlesbrough could be set to challenge Forest for the signing of Grosicki when the transfer window reopens in January.

'Boro have already enjoyed a strong start to the Championship, and bringing in someone with Grosicki's ability and experience would surely be a further boost for them as they look to push for promotion under Neil Warnock this season.

So could we see Grosicki at The Riverside Stadium come the turn of the year? Here, we take a look at the possibility of that happening.

Are these 12 facts about Middlesbrough's history genuine or not?

What's The Latest?

For the time being, Kamil Grosicki remains a West Brom player, with the EFL coming to the decision last week that they would not be allowing the move to go ahead, after the paperwork was submitted seconds after the summer transfer deadline.

However, it now seems as though the uncertainty around Grosicki will continue until well into the new year, with Forest no longer alone in their pursuit of the Poland international.

According to reports from a print edition of the Sunday Mirror (02/11, p65), Middlesbrough have now joined the race to secure the services of the winger in the January transfer window.

It seems however, as they will still have to compete with Forest in this transfer battle, with the Midlands club still said to be interested in the winger, although manager Chris Hughton remained evasive when asked about such a move in January, following their defeat to 'Boro at the weekend.

Is it likely to happen?

It wouldn't be a surprise to see Grosicki make a move away from The Hawthorns when the window reopens in January.

With his contract at West Brom set to expire at the end of this season, the Baggies would surely prefer for him to move to a Championship club such as Middlesbrough or Nottingham Forest.

That way, they will at least receive a fee for him, rather than lose him on a free to a foreign club on a pre-contract agreement.

However, it is hard to know whether Grosicki would favour a move to 'Boro or Forest should the opportunity to chose between the two emerge.

Having already been close to a move to Forest, the Pole may have his heart set on a move to The City Ground, although 'Boro's much stronger position in the Championship table - which could of course change between now and then - may make them a more appealing choice for the winger.

Whatever happens, Grosicki could certainly be a useful addition to Warnock's side as he looks to work his magic at this level again, meaning it may not be a surprise to see 'Boro at the very least make an attempt to secure his services in January.
