Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has sent a message to Tyler Denton after the left-back's exit from Elland Road was confirmed.

23-year-old Denton completed his move to League Two side Stevenage on Thursday morning and Phillips, who came through the club's youth system alongside him, was quick to wish him the best.

Taking to Instagram, Phillips shared a photograph of Denton on his story in his new training gear along with the caption: "All the best brother".

Despite moving through the ranks with the Whites, the left-back has gone on to make just three appearances for the club, spending two stints away on loan with Port Vale and Peterborough United.

Last season saw him make 14 appearances for the Posh in League One, failing to do enough to earn a place in Marcelo Bielsa's plans for the 2019/20 campaign.

The 2018/19 ended in disappointment for Stevenage, as they missed out on a spot in the play-offs by just one point.

Transfer speculation continues to engulf Phillips with David Anderson of the Mirror reporting on Thursday that Aston Villa had tabled an initial bid £11million.

The verdict

It is a shame that Denton has failed to fulfill the promise that he once showed at Leeds but it is the right time for all parties to move on.

Having seen him struggle in League One last season it is no surprise that Biels has called time on his stint at Leeds and that he has ended up in the fourth tier as well.

Leeds fans will now just desperately be hoping that Phillips does not now follow him out of the door but it looks like the club's resolve will be seriously tested.
