Leeds United recently announced that a number of the club's young players had extended their contracts at Elland Road.

One man that was in that group was Kun Temenuzhkov, who signed a new deal to remain with the Yorkshire-based club for the foreseeable future.

The Bulgarian forward has been a key member of Carlos Corberan's under 23's side in recent years, and played his part as they won the league title last season.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut against QPR in the FA Cup as a late substitute, and he'll be keen to progress through the ranks in the Leeds squad as quickly as possible.

Temenuzhkov took to Instagram following the announcement, and Kalvin Phillips was quick to react to his new contract at Elland Road.

It seems unlikely that Temenuzhkov will be able to force his way into the Leeds first-team anytime soon, with Marcelo Bielsa having stronger options in Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah ahead of him in the pecking order.

Leeds will be targeting a long-awaited return to the Premier League this term, and Marcelo Bielsa's side have started brightly as they currently sit top of the Championship table.

They are next in action at the weekend, when they face Charlton Athletic, in what could be a potentially tricky test for Leeds in their bid for promotion.

The Verdict:

He's deserved this new deal.

Temenuzhov has looked like a key player for the Leeds under 23's side, and I think he could benefit from a loan spell away from Elland Road to further his development in senior football.

If he can impress out on loan, then we could see him in the Leeds first-team sooner rather than later, although that could be dependent on whether the Whites are playing their football in the Premier League next season.
