Kalvin Phillips has sent a message to Leeds United fans on social media, following the Whites' win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

The 23-year-old has been one of the standout players for Leeds this season and had started every game for the Whites in the Championship, but he missed the clash at the John Smith's Stadium through suspension - after picking up five yellow cards.

In his absence, Leeds were able to pick up a hard-fought 2-0 victory over their West Yorkshire rivals - thanks to second-half goals from Ezgjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez.

The result see the Whites move to the top of the Championship table - one point ahead of West Bromwich Albion, who play tomorrow - and extend their winning run to six matches.

After the game, Phillips sent a message to Leeds fans on Twitter. The midfielder admitted that he was a nervous wreck watching the game from home, but congratulated his teammates on picking up the three points.

The Verdict

Phillips has been excellent for Leeds so far this season and he was a big miss for the team today. He's so crucial to the way that the Whites play under Marcelo Bielsa and his absence from the side today highlighted just how much of an important job he does.

It'll be a major boost for Bielsa to have him back for their next game and you have to give credit to the other Leeds players for the way they were able to get the job done without him today.

There's still a long way to go in the promotion race, but Leeds are absolutely flying at the moment and are starting to build some serious momentum. The pressure is now right back on West Brom to deliver a win in their next game tomorrow.
