Luton Town brushed aside League One side Ipswich Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, emerging as 3-1 victors at Kenilworth Road.
The Hatters would have been looking to bounce back after a late defeat to Cardiff City at the weekend, with Graeme Jones making a number of changes to the side that fell to a disappointing defeat to the Bluebirds.
Goals from Lloyd Jones, Elliot Lee and Andrew Shinnie secured a comfortable win for the Bedfordshire outfit, on a night where Chelsea loanee Izzy Brown made his debut for Jones’ side.
The 22-year-old arrived on loan from Stamford Bridge on Deadline Day, after a hugely disappointing year on loan with Leeds United last season – a campaign that was hampered by injuries.
The attacking midfielder made just two appearances for the Whites, but put in a hugely impressive display against Ipswich last night, producing a wonderful assist for Jones in the opening 10 minutes.
After the game, Brown took to Instagram to express his delight at getting back out on the pitch, with Leeds stars Kalvin Phillips and Jack Clarke among those in the comments congratulating their former teammate.
Luton face West Bromwich Albion at home this weekend, where they will be looking to claim their first win back in the Championship.
Brown gave everybody a reminder of what he is all about for Luton on Tuesday night – he was superb for the Hatters and looked very sharp indeed.
His spell at Leeds was disastrous, and never got a break when it came to injuries, so to get back out on the pitch and play for an hour would have given him massive confidence last night.
Leeds fans will be hoping that he has a quiet game when the two sides meet in November at Kenilworth Road.
