Leeds United bounced back from a defeat to Charlton Athletic in the best way possible, as they saw off West Brom at Elland Road on Tuesday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side looked like the better side for the majority of the game on the night, as they moved back to the top of the Championship table.

The Whites were one of the pre-season favourites to win promotion this term, and supporters will be pleased with what they have seen on the whole from their side.

Ezgjan Alioski’s goal in the first-half proved to be enough for the Yorkshire-based side, and they’ll be keen to build on this impressive showing when they travel to The Den to take on Millwall.

Leeds’

The midfielder was also pleased to see Tyler Roberts and Luke Ayling return the first-team squad after a spell in the treatment room.

Phillips recently signed a new deal with the Whites, and will be hoping that his side can go one better than last year's campaign by winning promotion to the Premier League.

The Verdict:

He’s a key player for the Whites this season, and they need to do everything they can to keep him fit.

Without Phillips, Leeds looked frail in defence last season, and I think his absence was one of the main reasons as to why they didn’t finish inside the automatic promotion places.

But he’s picked up where he left off from last season, and if he continues to build on these impressive performances, then I have no doubt in saying that Leeds will be playing their football in the Premier League in next year’s campaign.

He’s the sort of player that Bielsa needs to be building his team around when the likes of Pablo Hernandez aren’t deemed fit enough to feature.
