Wolves could face a battle to keep youngster Owen Otasowie at the club with interest from across Europe in the talented midfielder.

The teenage midfielder, who stars for the under 18s, is attracting interest from Everton, Schalke, Ajax and Italian champions Juventus according to the Sun.

Otasowie is a box-to-box midfielder who is also very assured on the ball and has been invited to play for the United States U18s earlier in the season. He could also qualify for Nigeria and England at international level.

Wolves spotted the midfielder playing for the Mass Elite Academy and he signed a two-year scholarship deal with the Black Country club back in 2017.

Despite their Championship status, Wolves boast one of the best academies in the country and have Category One status.

Even though Fosun International have put a lot of money into improving the first-team since they took over the club, Wolves still concentrate on bringing through their own players.

Danny Batth, Bright Enobakhare and U17 World Cup winner Morgan Gibbs-White are three players to come through the academy that played in last night’s defeat to Swansea in the FA Cup.

The Verdict

Not many Wolves fans will be aware of who Owen Otasowie is, however the calibre of clubs chasing the midfielder prove just how highly-rated he is.

The Championship side will hope that the player is happy to stay at Wolves, although he will clearly need to see a path to the first-team if he continues to develop.

Everyone connected with the club will be hoping after the funding that’s gone into the academy that a star will come out of it and maybe Otasowie can be that man.
