Goalkeeper Rafael Cabral has terminated his contract at Reading to return to Brazil, the Championship club have confirmed this morning.

The 31-year-old is expected to link up with second-tier side Cruzeiro after failing to force his way back into the starting lineup at the expense of Luke Southwood, who has been superb since his introduction in September following an injury to the Brazilian.

Suffering this injury after the Royals' 3-3 draw against Queens Park Rangers, that proved to be detrimental to the experienced shot-stopper's career at the Select Car Leasing Stadium and he made just one further appearance for the club after that clash with Mark Warburton's men.

That display came against Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Cup earlier this month, putting in a promising first-half display but making a catastrophic error for the sixth-tier side's equaliser as they fell victim to a shock 2-1 defeat and one of the biggest FA Cup upsets of the third round.

With little prospect of him re-establishing himself as the club's first-choice shot-stopper before the end of his contract in the summer and the Royals needing to cut costs, he has terminated his deal early in Berkshire after a mixed spell at the club, shining during the 2019/20 campaign but failing to replicate that form since.

But how did the second-tier club's fans react to this news? Happy to see a potential high earner off the books? Gutted?

We take a look at what a selection of them had to say after this official announcement.
