‘Just the kind of player we need’ – Nottingham Forest fans react to latest transfer news

Nottingham Forest are preparing for life without Britt Assombalonga in the Sky Bet Championship, and after the striker departed for £15m earlier this week, Mark Warburton is left with a healthy transfer pot to reshape his squad.
Warburton appears to be wasting no time in spending the money that Assombalonga raised, with Daryl Murphy set to move from Newcastle United to the City Ground for just £2m.
Murphy will become Forest’s fifth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Jason Cummings, Barrie McKay, Joe Coveney and Liam Bossin, but Warburton will be expected to add more players to his squad.
Burton Albion’s Jackson Irvine looks next on Warburton’s wanted list, with Forest monitoring the midfielder’s situation along with a number of other Championship clubs.
The Australian impressed in the Championship last season, scoring ten goals for Burton and has a reported release clause below £1.5m.
Here is some Forest reaction from the links with Irvine…
I hope so. Sort of player we've missed since McKenna. Fantastic engine and can finish

Really hope we can land this one. Just the kind of player we need in midfield.

I won't say "great signing" for the sake of it.
Murphy very average.
Irvine would be very good. He's the one we need massively #nffc

Surely if irvine has a £1.25m release clause surely we would activate it he would be worth a lot more in the future #nffc
