Millwall manager Neil Harris says he is "proud" of his players' performance in the Lions' 2-0 defeat to West Brom at the weekend.

Harris' men remain in the relegation zone in 22nd place,  after goals from Dwight Gayle and Kieran Gibbs succumbed to their fifth defeat in six league games; the Lions have won just once this season.

But the Millwall boss remains optimistic about his side, after what he described as an "excellent" first-half performance.

"First half I thought we were excellent in particular, until the first goal it was a game where I thought we were the better team", Harris said.

"It's just the way it's going for us at the moment, we don't score at one end and at the other end, Ben (Amos) makes a brilliant save, the ball comes off the bar and lands straight at Dwight Gayle's feet".
