Sheffield Wednesday playmaker Fernando Forestieri is working his way back to fitness, after missing the entirety of December’s schedule.  

Garry Monk has battled on without the playmaker whilst Forestieri recovered from a knee injury, with the 29-year-old’s last outing on the final day of November.

Now, the Sheffield Star have reported that Forestieri is on the comeback trail, although the weekend clash with Leeds United will probably come too soon for him.

Something of a controversial figure, Forestieri has started only twice in the Championship, with his impact a far cry from 2015-17, when he struck 27 goals and registered 11 assists over two seasons.

And, the frustration with Forestieri is clearly grating on the Owls fanbase, who have been quick to voice their opinion on this latest ‘injury’.

Many are urging the club to cash in on him, despite his quality, with previous misdemeanours even brought up.
