Jordan Smith could be living on borrowed time at Nottingham Forest after the club’s most recent arrival.

Luke Steele arrived at the City Ground after his Bristol City contract expired, signing a two-year deal.

The goalkeeper arrived to become Aitor Karanka’s 11th summer signing and will be battling it out with Costel Pantilimon for the number one shirt this season.

With the two most senior keepers now seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order, Smith might have to look elsewhere for a first-team opportunity.

Smith played 32 times for Forest last season as they finished 17th in the Championship.

Head coach Karanka has overhauled his side in the hope he can repair the stagnant state Forest have been in as of late.

That change comes by way of a full team’s worth of new signings, with two new keepers being brought in.

With the two new arrivals potentially signalling a tougher time to get first-team football for Smith, is it time the 23-year-old was axed at the City Ground?

We discuss…

Gary Hutchinson

It might not be official, but surely they have already haven't they?

They've signed two fresh keepers which hardly gives Smith hope for the future.

It's like Mancienne and Clough, they're still at the club, but they may as well not be.

Sam Rourke

Yes, just get rid of him.

It's clear he's way down the pecking order at Forest, and after a wobbly season last year, he needs a loan or permanent move away from the City Ground.

There is no point him festering on the bench all season at his age.

Louie Chandler

He needs to go for the benefit of himself more than anyone.

With four other goalkeepers ahead of him at the club, he is not going to get any game time in any competition, so a move is definitely needed.

Jay Williams

I think Nottingham Forest should send Smith out on loan.

With Costel Pantilimon as first-choice and Luke Steele as back-up, Smith and Stephen Henderson are surplus to requirements.

A loan spell in League One for the season could improve Smith's game a lot, and he may return a new player.
