Craig Gardner has joined Tony Pulis' coaching staff at Sheffield Wednesday, which has drawn an interesting response from fans of Birmingham City.

The 33-year-old left the Blues a few days ago and Wednesday confirmed this morning that he had joined Pulis as a member of his coaching staff, having played under the Welshman at West Bromwich Albion.

Gardner retired as a player earlier this year to take on a full-time role in Birmingham's coaching staff and took charge of the first-team alongside Steve Spooner after Pep Clotet's exit late last season.

He remained part of the coaching staff following the arrival of Aitor Karanka but it appears the pull of working with his former manager was too strong and he is now at Hillsborough.

The former midfielder made more than 100 appearances for the Blues across two spells at the Midlands club, as well as featuring for local rivals Aston Villa and West Brom.
