Birmingham City fans have been calling for former hero Mikael Forssell to return to the club following his latest Twitter update.

The former Blues striker was responding to a tweet made by the Birmingham City Twitter account looking back on the Blues' 4-1 victory over Tottenham in 2008, during which Forssell scored a hat-trick.

The 38-year-old scored 37 goals in 118 appearances for the Blues across three spells with the Midlands outfit, and he has earned his UEFA A-License since announcing his retirement in May 2018.

Birmingham have experienced a turbulent summer so far, which started when Garry Monk receiving his marching orders after he helped the Blues avoid relegation last term.

This saw his former assistant Pep Clotet appointed as caretaker manager for the coming season, while key man Che Adams and Michael Morrison have also departed the club.

Plenty of Birmingham fans have now called for Forssell to make a return for St Andrew's, with some claiming he should form part of the new-look coaching team.
