Dwight Gayle was the standout performer for West Bromwich Albion once again as Darren Moore's side saw off Preston North End 3-2 at Deepdale. 

A brilliant free-kick won the match for the Baggies and was enough to see off a spirited resurgence from Alex Neil's side.

After an uneventful first half, Jay Rodriguez put the visitors in front just three minutes after the break, heading home impressively from Jake Livermore's cross.

It stayed that way until the 71st minute when Andrew Hughes bent home a brilliant free-kick to level the scores for the home side.

But the Baggies came back strong and own goal from Ben Davies and a terrific free-kick from Dwight Gayle made the points safe, despite a late second from Alan Brownhill for the home side.

After the match, the club's official Twitter account reported on the Gayle goal with an ironic 'shock' that the striker had scored again.
