Since his recent arrival at the City Ground, new Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton has already stressed how his squad needs to be trimmed during the summer.

Despite the Reds currently sat just five points off the relegation zone, the former Rangers and Brentford boss has inherited one of the biggest squads in the league with a number of talented players not even making the squad on a match day.

Previous manager Gary Brazil did well to bring in some new faces in January with the likes of Zach Clough already impressing fans, but the transfer activity of Philippe Montanier before him can be regarded as a disaster.

The former French boss brought in a number of players with the help of the previous Director of Football Pedro Pereira, and very little players have gone on to make an impact with the East Midlands club.

Some players will leave the City Ground in the summer once their loan deal has expired, but FLW writer Harry Webster takes a look at TWO Nottingham Forest players Warburton needs to axe...

Thomas Lam

On reflection, Thomas Lam has actually scored some important goals for Forest this season, however that is not his job.

Since his arrival on a free transfer in the summer, the Finland international has struggled to get used to English football and has sometimes simply not looked good enough.

Lam has looked most comfortable in the defensive midfield position but with Chris Cohen and David Vaughan looking so strong there at the moment, he is the sort of player that should and can be sold to help Warburton trim his large squad.

Matty Fryatt

If there is one player who deserves some luck in football then it is most certainly Matty Fryatt.

The former Hull City and Leicester City striker has not played a game of football since the beginning of 2015 and although he is back in light training, it will come as a surprise if he plays for the Reds again.

Fryatt is out of contract in the summer and unless he has impressed Mark Warburton in training without playing, then it would be best for both parties for him to leave the club.
