As the season edges closer towards its conclusion, Wolverhampton Wanderers sit comfortably in mid-table after staving off the risk of relegation.

After a strong start to the season, Wolves appeared to lose their confidence and momentum as they dropped down the table and appeared to be dragged into a relegation dogfight.

However, a sudden upturn in form has seen Wolves win five games on the bounce giving the fans and club a much needed dose of optimism about where this club could potentially go under Paul Lambert's management.

Paul Lambert will be hoping that Wolves can continue their strong run of form and finish the season with a flourish, as it will give his side both confidence and momentum.

One way of maintaining that momentum over the summer is through the transfer market, Paul Lambert may look to further stamp his authority by moving on players who have struggled to adapt to the speed and the intensity of English football.

FLW writer Elliott Wheat-Bowen looks at TWO Wolves players Paul Lambert needs to dispense with as soon as possible...

Silvio

As part of the Portuguese revolution in the summer, 29-year-old defender Silvio joined Wolves from Spanish giants Atlético Madrid on a free transfer.

Prior to joining Wolves, Silvio was part of S.L Benfica's title-winning side and it was expected that he would come in as a first-choice full-back.

However, the Portuguese defender has only made two Championship appearances this season in the defeats to Wigan Athletic and Leeds United.

Since then, Silvio has drifted to the margins of Wolves squad due to a number of injuries which have prevented him from being part of Wolves first team set-up.

With Paul Lambert content with Matt Doherty, Conor Coady and Ben Marshall as his full-back choices, Silvio has fallen down the pecking order and it appears that he is not part of Paul Lambert's plans.

Instead, Silvio may be a player that Paul Lambert needs to dispense with in the summer.

Paul Gladon

After making the summer switch from Heracles Almelo to Wolves in the summer for a seven-figure fee, it was expected that Dutch striker Paul Gladon would have played a key role for Wolves this season.

However, it has been quite the opposite as the 25-year-old striker has made just two Championship appearances against Burton Albion and Wigan Athletic.

Since then, Paul Gladon has not been part of Wolves' matchday squad for the past twenty-five Championship fixtures suggesting that he is far away from Paul Lambert's first team set-up.

Paul Lambert's damning comments that Paul Gladon isn't up to speed with Championship football reveals that part of Paul Gladon's struggle at Wolves has been his failure to adapt to English football.

In the summer, Paul Gladon will be a player that Paul Lambert is most likely to dispense with as he looks to reshape the squad once again ahead of next season.
