Reading FC have had a good season overall, and are in a good position to make a top six finish.

The Royals weren't expected a play-off push after their previous two seasons ended with bottom half finishes, but Jaap Stam's side have impressed in 2016/17 and sit fourth in the table going into the final few games of the season.

Reading are nine points clear of seventh place and look as if they will almost certainly be in the play-offs this season, with an opportunity to bring Premier League football back to the Madejski Stadium for the first time since 2013.

Some Royals players have been very impressive this season, wide man Garath McCleary has notched eight goals in a Reading shirt in 2016/17, whilst Yann Kermorgrant is the top scorer at the Mad Stad with 13 goals to his name.

Summer arrivals Liam Moore and John Swift have also been excellent for Reading since joining, helping them compete for a play-off place.

Not all Reading players have been great however, and Football League World writer Rob Booth identifies TWO players who Jaap Stam should look to offload this summer...

Chris Gunter

Chris Gunter is one of the longest serving players in the Reading squad, having joined the Royals back in 2012 from Nottingham Forest.

Gunter had a good Euro 2016 with Wales, but failed to carry those performances into the 2016/17 with Reading.

The full-back has made 43 appearances in all competitions for Jaap Stam's side but hasn't performed to the standard that the Madejski faithful would've hoped for.

As Jaap Stam continues to put together a squad able to push for promotion, he may want to add another right back to the Reading ranks, which could pave the way for Chris Gunter's exit.

Sandro Wieser

Sandro Wieser joined Reading from Swiss side FC Thun last summer, having also played for Hoffenheim and Basel earlier on in his career.

The 24-year-old, who hails from Liechtenstein, has only made two outings in a Reading shirt.

Both of these outings came in the Football League Trophy for Reading Under 23's, against Yeovil Town and Southampton Under 23's.

Wieser has struggled to break into the Reading side and is still awaiting his first team debut, so as Stam assesses his squad in the summer he may look to send the youngster out on loan or even sell him if another team comes in for him.
