The Canaries dealt a blow to the Seagulls’ ambitions of winning the Championship with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Chris Hughton’s side on Friday night at Carrow Road.
Alan Irvine welcomed the return of midfielder Wes Hoolahan following his absence in the game against Preston North End, earning a place on the bench.
Meanwhile, defender Timm Klose remains on the sidelines with a knee injury.
The hosts were given the advantage inside the first twenty minutes by Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale.
Alex Pritchard’s 25-yard effort struck the post but deflected off the back of Stockdale and into the net.
Norwich City score almost an exact replica of the first to double their lead.
The only difference was it being on the opposite side of the woodwork.
Pritchard fancied himself from the same position, striking the post and Stockdale inadvertently put into his own goal.
Whilst the East Anglian outfit can’t actually achieve anything higher than eighth this season, they have stopped Brighton & Hove Albion from being victorious and winning the trophy on this occasion.
Here is how Norwich fans reacted on Twitter to the victory…
#ncfc Great day yesterday, awesome atmosphere. I think we did well and it's encouraging for next season if we sort things out.
