Jos Luhukay will expect to have a busy month as he looks to beef up his squad ahead of the new season that kicks-off early August.

The former Gladbach boss took a while to get the Owls going but the way they ended the season will mean fans are optimistic about what the new campaign could bring.

Yet, there's no doubt that the Yorkshire side need to add some more quality if they are to be back competing for a play-off place.

As well as that, they need to keep hold of key players like Barry Bannan and Fernando Forestieri who have been linked with moves away.

However, the focus at the minute will be on new signings and here we look at three potential deals that could happen in the coming weeks...

The Owls have been working on a deal to bring the Portuguese defender back to Hillsborough for a few weeks after an impressive loan spell with the club last season.

He improved throughout the campaign and could become an important member of the team over the next few years.

If Luhukay continues to use a back three, then he will need more central defenders and West Ham's Burke would bring balance as the left-sided option.

With Manuel Pellegrini now beginning to reshape his squad with the Premier League side, Burke should be available in the coming weeks.

With Jordan Rhodes expected to leave, and perhaps others, the Owls need a striker and Hugill is a proven option.

Another West Ham player that is not going to be needed, Hugill may only join on loan but he would be a big signing.

He is great with his back to goal, brings others into play but most importantly scores goals.
