Frank Lampard's first pre-season as a manager is well underway, with his side currently in Tenerife enjoying some warm weather training, although temperatures in Nottingham are comparable right now.

With July arriving and the World Cup coming to a climax, it is time for the former Chelsea man to concentrate on his squad and his approach to the new season.

It's unchartered territory for Lampard, but he's likely to be well aware of what it takes to be a football manager, given his parentage.

Derby will need to do some recruitment and possibly in double-quick time. Whilst the Matej Vydra saga shows no signs of slowing, they'll be working away to fill the hole he is likely to leave, as well as bolster other areas of the field.

Lampard will have a system he wants to impress on the players, possibly a different approach to that of Gary Rowett. The squad might not have the depth he needs and therefore we expect to see significant movement over the next couple of weeks.

Here are three deals FLW expects Derby County to get over the line this month.

Marriott is a custom-made Vydra replacement and his move from Posh surely depends on Vydra going to Leeds.

It is still expected, despite the interest from Bristol City and surely Lampard will want to get it done soon to integrate the former Ipswich man into his squad.

Loans from Chelsea were always going to be likely and Abraham would be a massive signing for Derby.

He's a full international and capable of playing in all but six or seven of the top flight sides, so a move to Derby would seriously boost their promotion hopes.

Expect the Blues to do Lampard a favour here.

The Rams have been linked with McGinn who is hoping to secure a move south to test himself in England.

They face competition though, with arguably the biggest club in Scotland, Celtic, also on his tail.
