Birmingham City midfielder Jude Bellingham has reacted to Paul Robinson's post on Instagram by labelling the former Blues player as a legend.

Robinson, who retired from football last year, enjoyed an incredibly fruitful spell at St Andrew's after joining the Blues in 2012.

With Birmingham suffering from an injury crisis at the time of the defender's arrival, he quickly emerged as a key player for the club during his debut season as he made 37 appearances in all competitions.

In the following campaign, Robinson helped the Blues avoid relegation to League One by featuring in all but six of their league fixtures.

Although he was unable to inspire Birmingham to a top-six finish in 2015 and 2016, the defender nevertheless produced a number of impressive displays for the club which resulted in him becoming somewhat of a favourite amongst the club's supporters.

With his career drawing to a close, Robinson made the decision to retire in 2018 at age of 39.

Having posted on Instagram a video of his final competitive appearance for the Blues, the defender attracted the attention of Bellingham who said that Robinson was a legend.

The 16-year-old, who has already scored twice for Birmingham this season, will be hoping to inspire his side to victory tonight when they face Middlesbrough in the Championship.

The Verdict

Although Bellingham only made his debut for the Blues in August, he will be looking to follow in Robinson's footsteps by becoming a key player at St Andrew's.

Unquestionably one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from Birmingham's academy in recent years, the midfielder could be destined for big things in the future.

Therefore, it is paramount that manager Pep Clotet continues to play Bellingham week-in, week-out in the Championship as it will give the teenager the opportunity to develop into a much more accomplished player.
