Birmingham City are riding the crest of a wave right now, and their fans probably think that Lee Bowyer should be sitting on five wins out of his first seven games right now.

Aitor Karanka's replacement has done a fantastic job so far to steer the Blues away from immediate relegation danger, and they should really be safe now after the job Bowyer has done to galvanise the players.

Bowyer was left furious on Wednesday night as Lewis Grabban's 98th-minute penalty at St Andrew's rescued a late, late point for Nottingham Forest in what was a contentious decision to award the spot kick anyway.

Earlier on in the second half, Birmingham took the lead through Marc Roberts, who is having his best scoring season for the Blues yet.

Roberts nodded in his fourth goal of the season at the back post and set pieces seem to be a big thing that Bowyer is exploiting with Birmingham, as Roberts' fellow centre-back Harlee Dean has also scored twice since his arrival.

One of Birmingham's favourite sons, Jude Bellingham - who as we all know moved onto bigger and better things with Borussia Dortmund - seemed very excited at the fact that Roberts was able to bag and left a two-word message on his Instagram post.

The Verdict

Bellingham is a regular reactor to all things Blues and it makes the fans wish that he didn't have to depart so soon after debuting.

But he is proving this season in Germany why Birmingham were able to command such a high fee for him - although the retiring the shirt number 22 is still very contentious in the eyes of many.

It wouldn't be a shock to see Bellingham at St Andrew's again one day soon when crowds are allowed back to stadiums considering how much love he seems to have for the club, and he's somewhat put the club back on the map after a long time away from the Premier League and mainstream relevancy.
