Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has provided the rather surprising update that Sunderland have cancelled away tickets for their game v Wolves - thanks to Newcastle fans.

Indeed, it seems a bit of an odd story to be doing the rounds at the moment but that is the case on Wearside with the club worried about Magpies turning up on the final day:

The Black Cats have had a woeful campaign this season and look destined for League One with them more than likely dropping whilst Newcastle remain in the Premier League.

That, of course, is cause for celebration if you're on Tyneside but it looks as though some want to take it to the next level and infiltrate the Stadium of Light on the final day.

Certainly, the Black Cats have looked to avoid such a circumstance but it seems as though we'll have to wait and see who is successful.

The Verdict

This would just cap Sunderland's season off, wouldn't it?

More than likely they'll be confirmed as a League One side by the final day and Wolves are sure to want to put on a show.

Then, when you throw in the possibility of Newcastle fans cheering the Old Gold on you've got a potentially potent mix.
