The dust had barely settled on another thrilling Premier League campaign when the news broke that Chris Hughton would be leaving Brighton with immediate effect.

He'd led the club to another year in the top flight, but form apparently was not good enough in the final months of the campaign and that caused the Seagulls to pull the trigger.

They have seemed quick to line up their potential replacement, too, with Swansea's Graham Potter appearing top of the bookies' list to come in and so that seems to be set to come to light.

Indeed, in what would be a blow for the Swans in losing their manager just a year after arriving, it looks as though it could be a sealed deal before too long according to John Percy.

He reports that the Premier League side is looking to interview Potter today ahead of potentially appointing him and Swans fans will be feeling rather resigned to his exit now surely.

The Verdict

This will be a blow for the Swans.

They were playing nice stuff under Potter and may have been hopeful of keeping key players and putting some sort of challenge together next year.

This throws things into doubt, though, and questions will continue to be asked as to how the boardroom scene has had an impact on any Potter exit.
