Leeds United are not interested in signing a trio of Premier League strikers, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Lee Sobot.

Reporting from his personal Twitter account, Sobot has ruled Leeds out of a move for Dwight Gayle, Nahki Wells and Danny Ings, insisting that the trio are not targets for Thomas Christiansen.

Leeds have had a busy summer transfer window, with a number of players both arriving and leaving Elland Road following Christiansen’s appointment.

One big departure has left Leeds in desperate need of striking reinforcements, with Chris Wood quitting Elland Road for Burnley in a £15m deal.

Wood’s departure saw Leeds move to sign Jay-Roy Grot, and the Dutchman will compete with the injured Caleb Ekuban and Kemar Roofe for a striking role in Christiansen’s starting XI.

Leeds are still looking to add another striker to their squad between now and Thursday’s deadline to accommodate Wood’s departure.

Sobot also confirmed that whilst Leeds weren’t interested in signing Gayle, Wells or Ings, there is definite interest in Pawel Cibicki and Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

Lasogga is reportedly in England and set for talks with Victor Orta and Leeds ahead of a potential move to Elland Road.

However, the Whites face competition from Aston Villa and Wolves for the striker’s signature.

The Verdict

Whilst Leeds’ supporters might have warmed to the idea of a Gayle, Wells or Ings arriving as Wood’s replacement, they will not be too disappointed to see their club going in search of reinforcements from abroad.

The addition of Ezgjan Alioski and Samuel Saiz earlier this summer, combined with the impact the duo have had in the Championship, will give Leeds’ supporters confidence in their scouting system.

Looking abroad will also mean Leeds could potentially get better value for money, with the English transfer market extremely inflated at this current time.
