Nottingham Forest have had a very busy transfer window so far and have made some real statement signings as they look to push for promotion.

Aitor Karanka has spet a club-record £13m on Joao Carvalho, with Diogo Goncalves, Michael Dawson and Gil Dias also arriving.

However, they still want more and have been linked with a move for Middlesbrough's Patrick Bamford but the latest update from Sun journalist Alan Nixon suggests that a deal isn't imminent.

When asked by a Forest fan if the rumours suggesting Bamford could move to the City Ground had legs, he replied that it will take a 'big price'.

Whilst Forest are clearly ready to back Karanka with serious funds, it remains to be seen whether they will sanction another big-money arrival in the form of Bamford.

The striker, who scored 11 league goals last season, was signed by Karanka back in 2017 for a fee in the region of £5.5m when the Spaniard was in charge at the Riverside, so he is a player the Forest boss knows very well.

The Verdict

Bamford is a very good Championship player and at just 24-years old, he still has a lot to offer so you can see why Boro are demanding big money.

However, Forest won't want to splash out a huge amount on a player who hasn't convinced entirely in the past 18 months.

Ultimately, Karanka knows the player though and if he feels Bamford will be a key player for the Reds, they should do all they can to sign him.
