Leeds United will look to secure the permanent signing of Oliver Sarkic after the striker continues to impress for the U23 side.

The 20-year old arrived on a half-season loan from Benfica in the summer and according to reliable Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay, the Whites are now looking to sort a permanent transfer in this window.

Sarkic was on target again for the U23 side today as they won a thrilling encounter against Hull City by four goals to three.

The Montenegrin scored from the spot to put Leeds 2-1 up after former Manchester United forward Will Keane had equalised for the Tigers.

Kamil Miazek was sent off for the hosts but Leeds managed to add a fourth which ultimately won them the game.

Bringing Sarkic to the club on a long-term deal shouldn’t be too much of a problem for the Yorkshire club. The striker has only ever played for the Benfica B team and had a loan spell in the lower leagues of Portugal before he moved to England.

The Verdict

Leeds fans haven’t had a chance to see Sarkic in the first-team this season although that may be understandable given he is moving to a new country.

Therefore, they’ll have to trust the coaches who see him every day as to whether he is worth signing on a permanent basis.

Clearly he is a signing for the future and will need to keep working and improving if he is to play for the senior Leeds side.
