The potential new owner of  Bolton Wanderers is real and has been trying to buy the Championship club for weeks, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Bolton appeared in High Court yesterday over an unpaid tax bill and have been given two weeks to settle their debts, or the club could risk going into administration.

After the hearing yesterday morning it was revealed that the club's owner Ken Anderson has agreed terms with a new buyer who will pay off the clubs debts.

The supposed new buyer was also said to have a major steak in a high-level football club, leading to many speculate as to who the club's potential new owner might be and cause some to question whether the mystery buyer is in fact real.

However, this latest update from Nixon suggests that the owner is real and reveals that whoever it is has been trying to buy the club for weeks.

It also states that whether or not they agree to the all the details is key and that there are still two other potential buyers in the frame.

The Verdict:

This could be good news for Bolton, who now have just under two weeks to complete a takeover and clear their debts.

The financial situation at the club has got progressively worse over the past few weeks, with players and staff receiving February's wages late.

Everyone associated with the club will hope that this potential new buyer can save the club from administration.
