Manchester City winger Jack Harrison is set to join Leeds United and journalist Phil Hay has confirmed that Marcelo Bielsa's relationship with Pep Guardiola influenced this move.

Hay reports that Bielsa persuaded Guardiola to sanction a loan move for Harrison, despite the winger featuring for Man City in pre-season.

The Yorkshire Evening Post broke the story that Harrison was undergoing a medical at Elland Road ahead of a season long loan switch, following a spell at Middlesbrough last term.

The 21-year-old signed for Man City last January from New York City and was sent out on loan to Boro, but only made four appearances for the Championship side.

The England youth international is set for another switch to the Championship and this time, he is moving to Leeds, where manager Bielsa has had a major impact.

The Argentinian boss has a good relationship with Guardiola and talks between the pair have seen this deal happen.

The Verdict

Bielsa's relationship with Guardiola could be a very handy one for all parties.

If he can snap up some other exciting youngsters on loan, then they would develop well in the Leeds team and benefit Man City in the long-term and the Whites in the short-term.

Harrison could be the first of many and he is certainly a skilful, exciting talent.
