Leeds United are looking to bring two central defenders to Elland Road this summer, and are looking at the domestic transfer market, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay.

The Whites are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements this summer, particularly with Giuseppe Bellusci expected to complete his permanent move away from Elland Road and Kyle Bartley looking unlikely to return for a second spell in West Yorkshire.

Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper are Leeds’ only senior options in defence, leaving Thomas Christiansen worryingly short of cover in a vital position.

Leeds’ new head-coach is looking at the domestic market for reinforcements, and despite very little indication of who Leeds want to sign, supporters will be pleased to see Christiansen looking for a defender with experience in English football.

There have been a number of foreign arrivals at Elland Road already this summer, with Vurnon Anita the only new addition with any experience in the Sky Bet Championship.

Last week saw Leeds complete the exciting signing of Ezgjan Alioski, who became the club’s ninth summer signing.

Christiansen and Leeds are currently in Austria preparing for the 2017/18 Championship campaign, which will see the Whites look to end their 13-year wait for a Premier League return.
