Leeds United have previously been linked with a move for Rotherham defender, Semi Ajayi over the weekend on social media (via a report from The Star).

The Millers midfielder was a rare bright-spark in a disappointing season last term, as they were relegated from the Championship.

But the Rotherham Advertiser's Paul Davis revealed that the defender has trained with Rotherham this week, and that a move to Leeds doesn't look as though it's on the cards anytime soon.

There had also been reports on social media, that Ajayi was having a medical at Elland Road, but the journalist was quick to quash that rumour, claiming that no medical has taken place.

Ajayi made 46 league appearances for Paul Warne's side last season, scoring seven goals in total, and his good performances seemingly haven't gone unnoticed.

Leeds could be in the market for a new central defender, with West London Sport reporting that Pontus Jansson is set for a medical with Brentford over a deal worth in the region of £5.5m.

Jansson will leave a sizeable void in the heart of the Leeds defence, and the Elland Road faithful will be hoping that Marcelo Bielsa can find a suitable replacement for the Swedish international before the transfer window closes.

Whether Leeds' rumoured interest in Ajayi is true remains to be seen though, although it's set to be a busy, and potentially season-defining transfer window for Bielsa's side.

The Verdict:

I wouldn't be surprised to see Leeds further their rumoured interest in signing the Rotherham midfielder.

He really impressed me last season, and without him, they would have been relegated a lot sooner than they were as he scored some crucial goals in the Championship.

I think he's far too good for League One level, and I'd expect him to be leaving the Millers before the new season gets underway.

Whether it'll be Leeds that he moves to though, remains to be seen.
