New Hull City manager Grant McCann will receive a bonus if he keeps the Tigers out of the bottom third of the Championship table next season, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The 39-year-old was appointed as the Tigers' new manager on Friday afternoon, and will be looking to hit the ground running at the KCOM Stadium after a hugely impressive tenure at the helm of Doncaster Rovers.

The former Peterborough boss guided the Yorkshire club to the League One play-off semi-finals last term, where they were defeated by eventual winners Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

But it seems as if the Tigers are in for a long season, and amid interest in star players Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki, Nixon claims that McCann will receive a bonus if he keeps the club out of the bottom third next term.

Hull nearly put together an unlikely push for the play-offs under previous manager Nigel Adkins last season, but ultimately tailed off towards the end of the campaign.

The Tigers finished 13th in the Championship table, despite going on an impressive run of eight wins in 11 games in December.

The Verdict

I think it has been well-documented that Hull will be in for a tough season next year, as their off-field status has been far from tranquil over the last few years.

Losing Bowen and Grosicki would be a massive blow if they left the club, and you wonder whether McCann will be given the funds to replace them if they did depart the KCOM Stadium.

He is a very good manager, though, and I believe that he is a very good appointment for the Tigers.
