Sheffield Wednesday are expected to extend the loan deals of Connor Wickham, Alessio Da Cruz, Josh Windass, and Jacob Murphy today without any issues, according to Yorkshire Live's Dom Howson.

The four players' loan deals are set to expire today but with the season set to finish in late July due to the delay, the Owls need to secure extensions to ensure they will be available for Garry Monk until the end of the season.

According to Howson, there are not expected to be any issues in securing those agreements and official confirmation could come from the club today.

Those agreements will carry even more weight after Wednesday failed to agree short-term extensions with a number of their out-of-contract players, including key duo Steven Fletcher and Morgan Fox.

Following Fletcher's department, Crystal Palace loanee Wickham appears to have found some form at the perfect time for Monk's side – scoring in back-to-back games since the restart.

Jacob Murphy, who joined from Newcastle United on a season-long loan in the summer, has been a mainstay in the first team this season – grabbing five goals and three assists in his 37 appearances.

The jury remains out on Wigan's Josh Windass and Parma's Alessio Da Cruz, two attacking options that have not quite shown their best yet for the Yorkshire club.

Wednesday face a tough test tomorrow night as they welcome West Bromwich Albion to Hillsborough.

The Verdict

This is good news for Wednesday, particularly given the pending departure of a number of key players as free agents.

Wickham appears to be hitting his stride ahead of the run-in, while the other three are very useful options for Monk to have at his disposal.

Howson is a trusted source when it comes to the Owls, so you feel we will likely see some confirmation from the club before the Baggies clash.

A victory against Slaven Bilic's side, who are out of form at the moment, would be a real statement of intent and likely mean they close that gap on the play-offs further.
