Leeds Unitedâs Caleb Ekuban should be back within two weeks as he steps up his recovery from a foot injury suffered in December.
The striker joined the club in the summer and was immediately struck by injury, breaking his foot during his Championship debut against Sunderland.
After a three-month absence, the former Chievo man then fought his way back into the team, only to fracture a bone in his foot again at QPR.
However, this injury wasnât as severe as the first one and journalist Phil Hay revealed that Thomas Christiansen told the press he should be back within two weeks.
In the time between the injuries, the 23-year old manged to play five consecutive games and even though he couldnât get on the scoresheet Ekuban delivered some promising performances.
Leeds collected ten points from those fixtures with Ekuban impressing with his speed and movement up top.
His return could be vital to Christiansenâs side with Leeds yet to add another forward to their ranks in the January window so far.
The Verdict
Thereâs no doubt that Ekuban has been a big miss for Leeds as he looks to have the pace and power to cause problems.
The two injuries he has suffered will concern fans but itâs pleasing to see he is closing in on a return.
However, that shouldnât distract Leeds from signing another striker in the window as they need a proven goalscorer and even though heâs impressed thereâs no guarantee Ekuban can be that man.
